Going the newcastle vs wigan game at the w'end, few of us are stopping in south shields. Just wondering if anybody could recommend any good bars before the game? And what bars/clubs are good at night? Heard there is a metro link from south shields to the centre, is that open at night? Cheers guys

you tend to find the bars around in and around The Gate are good for Pre Match banter such at Sam Jacks, Beyond and The Sports Bar, with the first to even having some naked female entertainment, pre and post match

On an evening The Gate again is alright with Tiger Tiger just next door and Blu Bambu at the top of the Bigg Market

Personally I usually drink down next to the Central Station, also known as the Diamond Strip, which are generally better quality bars with less idiots, best bars in my opinion being Tokyo, Revolution, Florita and Madame Koo.

As for the Metro so South Shields I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure they don't run all night and a taxi back to Shields will cost you minimum £20

Let me know what kind of Bars and Clubs you're after and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction

Ahhh sweet thanks for the reply dude. Haven't heard of the diamond strip or the gate so we'l get a taxi to the central station and make our way round there and the quay, heard its good around there? The bars we mostly go in are bars like walkabout, surfers, revollution so it sounds perfect for us, just hope we don't get beat up for being wiganers :/

Went out in Newcastle a couple of years back. Fucking ace night.

Wasn't too keen on the mile long cab queue though..

Enjoyed the long bar, tiger tiger, and places in the Gate are decent.

Actually think you cant go wrong on a Saturday night in Newcastle.
