Right longshot i know, but anybody on here any idea on rebuilding BMW S50 engines?

I.e If one has seized, is it better to just get a new block or recon the one in there?

Second hand blocks seem to go for about £2.5k

If it's low on oil could be all kind of problems.

Bearings, crank, cams, scored the bores deffinatlyband need new pistons and rings.

Would need to be cheap as its a risk. Whats a 2nd hand engine?

Theres a spares place selling them for £2.5k, not refurbed just second hand with history. (For e.g has done 10k less than engine in car)

I've seen an E36 M3 convertible on a late plate in decent nick wrong gearbox but its £1500.

Could always break the car if it works out to be too much to repair the engine.

Run low on oil could mean lots needed! Crank could br buggered for a start and that's not going to be cheap, get a used engine for it if anything then keep the broken one for spares
