Evening all, some of you know i did a track day today at oulton park, i loved it , there is a few questions i want to ask some of you guys.
Firstly whoever mentioned leting my tyres down to a lower psi, LEGEND !!!! it worked alot better,
Anyway the weather was really really bad heavy rain then sun whislt still raining :/, anyway before i even started my proper track time, the back end came flying out on the safty laps, a few laps in to track time and i was off ,full circle narrowly missing the tyres, by the chicane, the following lap at the dreweds (double apex ) i was off again :/ i wasnt even giving it any, so i pulled in the the pits to have a think, we had decided the back end was to light and the tyres were in need of deflation so we banged the van wheel in the back along with a steelie for some weight .
I carryed on the day it was abit iffy and some corners after that but not as much .#
Is this because i had no weight in the back ?
Also other peoples thoughts on how to stop this a bit .
Pics up later or tomoz

My corsa handled very well with its uprated suspension. I took it to the ring, and stripped the back end out. Was shit. Lift off over steer going at really low speed and hit the wall

I did think your 34psi or whatever was crazy high for a corsa!
rear end too stiff.....
too high pressures in rear...
Crap suspension?
Lifting off?
Rear brake bias ok?

If you have ARB's try experimenting with them at the next trackday. Just disconnect them dont remove (front off, rear on / rear off, front on / both off etc etc)
I preffered my old corsa without the front ARB off for example.... esp in the wet.

Steve - Its not going to quick for the conditions.... its the car not being able to grip the road.... wee tweaks in setup can make big differences in the wet.
Tyres are a major oversight.
Camber - if its wild, tone it down for wet (and if on road tyres you dont need/want large amounts anyway)
My old white corsa had a habbit of stepping out at the rear (not on lift off) but when pretty neutral mid corner - partial throttle etc.

on the front i had toyo tr1's on the back unknown,
they were passing me round the corners because whenever i tryed to go fastest the back end came out, i tryed to copy there lines but it made it worse ,

oh... i didnt mention why I thought my rear was stepping out above
I found i had a seized rear strut, so no dampening. Also had Wanglee Darkstars on the rear for some random reason I cant remeber.
Bilsteins i've experienced in a Corsa have been shocking! Stoneygingers old suspension was mince! way too firm, no composure at all.

a bit of bodyroll can sometimes be better than none at all

yep it shifts weight over the one set of wheels increasing the pressure thus increasing grip
of course too much and you will just take too much pressure from the other side

Decent tyres would help.
Also rear end would be too stiff.
I have to change my rear springs ideally on a wet day as I have two different types. My dry ones make the rear to stiff and it has no give in it to help the rear tyres grip.
Also tyre pressure's. I generally run 24F and 26R on cold tyres on an average temp day and then adjust to suit.
