im in need to find out how much approx a suspension leg (coilover setup) moves around when the car is driven?

for example left and right and how much would the spring expand when compressed?

the spring wont expand really it will only compress, and shock movement isnt very much at all more only up and down than any other way, you worrying about them hitting tyresw or?

im having custom topmounts made, worried they will hit the wall of the topmount

thats what i mean, they will expand slightly when compressed

i know what your saying bud but i need to know figures tbh as im getting them engineered, so need them to be near perfect..

Is it a double wishbone suspension set up? What's the length of the springs, and approximately how much does it roll? What is the angle of the coilovers unit when the car is stationary on level ground? What poundage are the springs?

We could do with some sort of picture or paint sketch to get an idea of what you're doing to be honest.

its a double wishbone setup, spring is about 8" long..

car doesnt roll much but depends on how its driven i guess, quite stiff..

cant check the angle at this moment in time due to not having the coilovers fitted to the fronts..

i will try and do something on pain

the clearance im worried about is the bit in red where the spring is inside the tunnel..

how much of the spring will be in the recess?, if the spring has any expansion at all it will be from the middle first where the two ends effectivley join, and with the rate springs on a car rebound they wont expand much at all

i would say around 2" of the spring will be inside..

tbh im more concerned of how much the suspension unit moves around rather then the expansion of it..
