I've done loads of painting with cans and always had a pretty decent result, certainly not had this problem before.

i've got a corrado green paint and the same thing happens no matter what i do, have tried loads of different things to spray, different laquers, tried in the summer time too.

my problem is, the paint goes on and looks lovely, a perfect match, but as it dries it turns pale and has no shine/colour. Tried a bit of laquer on it and it looks lovely again, until it dries, then looks the same as before.

here is my engine cover (car in background is colour it should be), painted and laquered and left to dry, looks amazing lastnight before it dried, just like the car

sprayed some water on it and it looks alright

thing is its paint from same place i bought escort paint from, and that turned out spot on, and tried loads of different laquers that have been fine on other stuff.

going mad here, nostrils and teeth all over the place

Is it nothing to do with the plastic absorbing the paint? The guy thats painting my brother Nova told me that it can happen when painting some plastics and thats why he wouldn't do my arches and the tops of my bumpers for me. I could be completely wrong about it though

dunno, the black bits i've done have turned out alright, but they are just satin black and no laquer.

am sure i've painted plastic before without this problem

was the basecoat dry before you lacquered it the first time, are you using the correct ratio of hardener to lacquer?
is it freezing cold where you are spraying.
post up the products you are using pictures too

I used plastic primer. like I say have tried loads. been trying it since last winter. so during summer too.

its all the same stuff bar the paint. that I used on escort bumper. will get pics. I actually got two different cans mixed from different suppliers. and they both do the same?

try flatting it with some p2000 and water and use some cutting compound, see if it brings it up.

Bit of an odd one though, i would say possible solvent pop but it would still have a shin of sort to it.
