hey all i havent done much to my car lately but i thought its time to get it goin again and get all the bits and bobs sorted , one of the things i think is the water pump , i thought id fixed it but obviously not, i put a couple of jugs of water in it today started it up in the garage and left it for about 5 mins, i went and checked on it and there was steam coming from the bonnet and water spraying from the side of the engine am i rite to think its the water pump? Anorther thing is the tempreture goes up prity high and the engine manegment light is on. Any sugestions what this could be or if anyone in the birmingham area fancys making abit of money and fixing it for me then that would be great. this would be big help because i rely want to get it through the m.o.t , so let me no lads and lacies cheers

Sure its the water pump, normally you would get a metallic sound as well.
Could be a hose split & the water pouring on the pulleys? seems to be losing alot of water for the tempreture to go up so quick. Worth checking all the hoses first as the pumps a pain of a job to do.

i checked them all when it was running erlyier mate , and there was nothing coming out of any of them, and funny you would say that about the noise cus there was funny noise when it was spraying the water , so if it is the water pump how much you think someone will fit one for ?

£80 aint to bad, & yes the engine is chain driven. See if they will use a metal water pump instead of the plastic one, much better quality
