Are power boost valves any good? Can a adjustable fuel reg be used as the same thing??

So fitting an afr is just like having a boost valve, you just turn the pressure up??

Yes, exactly the same thing. Adjustable fuel pressure, just make sure you have it set up properly so you don't run the engine too lean or too rich.
