can people list what theyve done to their x14xe to raise the bhp?

Heard of someone getting around 130bhp on here a while back
Models of performance items would be good too.

Thanks

mostly internal work i would imagine.

wouldnt you be easier just buying a 1.6 and giving it less mods.

SBD^ Its major work, not your normal at home stuff lol

But as said, Inlet change, mild cams, decent 4-2-1 manifold coupled to a decent system, maybe get just over 100bhp?, Same on a 1.6 would get it about 130bhp though.

I really hate the small block but the inlet is the main thing to change it makes a massive difference and a 1.6 transplant would be pointless every x16xe I have ever seen has been shit and smoked like theres no tomorrow and are dog slow there's loads of fit 14s out there and just with an inlet and good exhaust system and panel filter will show a x16 up all day long... Unless you're willing to rebuilt a x16 with internal mods you will best off going with what AW06 has listed to get the best out of your engine

My x16xe is running perfect, no smoke, no burning oil, just one perfect, quietly running faultless engine. With 108,000 miles on the clock. And its making 121bhp with no other mod apart from a powerbox. So clearly the engines you have had bad luck with have been terribly looked after.

Same here and no X14 has ever come near it lol.

May aswell get the x16 and do the mods to that. u will end up with a good 20 bhp more that way.

Ive only ever heard of x14's getting 120 bhp ish (non turbo or throttle bodies) and the x16 about 145 ish again with no turbo or throttle bodies.

its all down to budget. ive got forged high comp 16xe pistons that would be ideal for a half decent 1600 build as the stock rods are good for about 8k aslong as their balanced. could run some decent cams then.

Mantzel inlet
Courtenay cams
Janspeed manifold
De-cat
Headwork

Above got me 132 on my X16 with standard management. I reckon with mapping it maybe would have hit 150.
