200 on maintaince Er..... good luck with that
ie oil change everyother event, fluid changes
most other things are wear and tear....pads may last 3-4 events or even more
this isnt a event for rich people, you have to make this last longer,
and at the end of the day its a clio, its a cheap hot hatch nothing is THAT costly

its a race serious, you WILL break stuff, running a engine at high revs over 15-25 mins etc + all the other issues you will break things

We spent maybe 1.5k on tyres
We spent about 6-700 on brake consumables
Or 'service' after each round costs about £150 so - 750 just in parts
you have a 500bhp skyline and imprezza and alot of money though....
the ideal and classes are totaly different

i agree, The cars in the MSV thophy will actully be running for longer than fee or adams cars do when putting laps in on the time attack circuit, what there doing is almost a spring compared to a 15min short circuit race, and thats before someone drives into you

and you cant budget for breakages, but in the real world
say you blow up a engine - £600, gearbox £250 etc
its not like its a 5k engine or gearbox under the bonnet, internals standard there for everythings bolt on

If you think the series Paul is on about is for poor people you are mistaken.
ALL motorsport is expensive!
All the safety gear you need is the same as us.
It doesnt really matter that I have money or not.... I choose to service a car after every round... and I know that it'll cost more than £200 over a full season (if maintained properly)
That 7k odd oes not include any breakages. We used 2 gearboxes last year, and ecu, ign module etc etc.... new engine late 2009, new engine 2008. refreshed engine in 2011.
All i'm trying to say is if you want to be near the front the word 'budget' get punted out the window!

Did Paul actually say hes putting £200 aside for the whole season? Even il be putting much more into it than that. The thing is with this series is its only about 4 races, and if we dont have the money we wont enter them all simple as. Paul and I have both wanted to compete for absolutely years though and at some point you have to bite the bullet.

okay when i said poor - wrong word, lower level budget championship
Im looking at it from my point of view - if i was to enter
when i said maintance i was just furthering to engine servicing, which is completely different to compount failures
the difference being I would be the one doing it, fixing it and getting thing cheaper - im not looking from a 'racing drivers' point of view
you can make things too expensive, dont cut corners but be sensible
the cars cost what £1200, - you could get a full car (aka a box for spares) for same again....its a cheap hot hatch
