From 2007 - 2009 the German government built a huge Leisure Park at the Nürburgring. It is based on fake visitor numbers, oversized and badly executed. Most of the time it is an empty ghost town. Once promised as private Investment, it is now based on a debt of 350+ Million Euro public money.

Instead of pulling the plug they rented the park - including both race tracks - to exactly the same privateers (Kai Richter, Jörg Lindner), who were driving forces behind the Leisure Park's initial private setup.

Without Racing experience they are since experimenting with events completely unrelated to Motorsport (German Volksmusik for example, another one here) - all under the iconic "Nürburgring" brand name.

They now want Nordschleife to pay for the huge losses of "NüroDisney": record prices and bundled packages for tourist drives plus a 5 times increase for the automotive industry in rent for their prototype testing sessions.

RSR been banned is a crock of shit though

[quote="Mark83"]OK, Nurburgring Automotive GmbH are pissing me off following the latest developments. They are systematically setting out to destroy local businesses.

Ron lost his court battle and RSR are banned from the Nurburgring. Is this the beginning of the end for rental companies?

They're building facilities at the Lindner hotel to take business from the neighbouring and independant Dorint hotel.

Sonja who runs her (independant) souvenier shop in Adenau has been told she has to buy her stock from Nurburgring Automotive GmbH after they withdrew licences from the former producers of official branded Nurburgring merchanise.

Granted, it's now Nurburgring Automotive, a private companies' playground, but when €400m of public money was used to build it and I see friend's businesses affected and the public's politcal appeals falling on deaf ears :bad-words:

[quote="Mark83"]In a nutshell, Nurburgring Automotive GmbH don't want independant businesses profiting from their business. If they can stop rentals/instruction etc, they can then charge for it themselves.

I just hate to see Ron, a person who has done so much to promote the Nurburgring worldwide and brought so much business into the local area, discriminated against. I've not spoken to Ralph/Freddie at Rent4Ring to see if they are affected or whether Nurburgring Automotive had Ron in their sights as their main rival and first target.

Here is the article about Ron's court case, excuse Google's translation: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Feveline-lemke.de%2Fmeine-themen%2Fnuerburgring%2F%3Fno_cache%3D1%26expand%3D329343%26displayNon%3D1%26cHash%3D8771b14f374b804ad1d9329264f85530&act=url
