Basically, rang up to order an a new mobile about a week before christmas. Told Vodafone about a cashback deal I was going to do through a website and they said because I was a loyal customer they could offer me the handset discounted with the cashback amount taken off. They said they will post it out today and il have it tomorrow, then the girl discovered they werent actually in stock... She then said she will ring me back when the phone comes in. Since then ive checked twice and Vodafone still havent had them in stock, a guy on the phone today has told me however that quotes on the system are only valid for 24 hours and that because of the VAT increase I will now have to pay another £30... The thing is I only waited for Vodafone to get the money off, if I knew I wasnt saving any money I would have gone with another network ages ago or bought the phone in store and not had to put up with using a broken phone for the past 3 weeks. There is still a note on my account stating the offered price, should they be kind enough to match the price i was originally quoted or have I been royally shafted?

i find with these phone companies you can always get what you want if you prepared to argue it out long enough

Because of the VAT increase you need to pay £30? That would make the pre-VAT price £1200?
Legally they don't need to honour the price because you didn't enter the contract during the first call. But they may still do what you want. Depends if they want to keep you. I generally find they'll move when pressed.
