Everyone missing the point I feel.
It's a lovely car I and I would love to own it. The asking price doesn't really mean much, it goes some way towards reflecting the rarity of the opportunity to buy, ie. there are not many (if any?) GSi with that mileage now.
When you consider it may be the lowest mileage example of that car in existence, you are talking about a fairly special car. (if you're a sad geek who likes Corsas, as some of us are. Same goes for any VW/Ford owner, some of whom are equally bonkers)
However, it's only worth what someone will pay. Most people fail to grasp that you can't really get offended by price as the only time the price is ratified is when the buyer and seller AGREE it.
If someone agrees at the price then that is the price. If no one is yet to agree then obviously no one wants it for that money.
My personal feeling is that it absolutely daft money and there's no way I wouldn't feel like I hadn't just been bummed for an hour if I bought it, but it would also save me about the same again to do my car.
When you consider paint alone for a group-up resto is £1500, cleaning all the parts, replacing things, it's very easily exceeds that price by quite some margin. And my car would still have a six figure mileage recorded. So in fact it would actually be quite a sensible purchase for me considering I'm doing the white one. In fact if it were white, there would be some great reasons for me to find the money from somewhere.
Not really worth the debate or the insults, that is what is for offer. If you want to buy it, have the money. If you don't, don't.
If you want it for less, make an offer. If he refuses, it remains for sale.
It's just maths. Can we stop bickering like children. It was the car that was born in 1994, not the people posting.

In fact it's up for £3800 in the MIG advert. That's actually fairly close to being very attractive.
If that was white I would have a major quandary on my hands right now.
