no, you haven't got a leg to stand on. The car could be stolen, TWOC'ed or borrowed off a mate to go get some fags and put some petrol in for them.

Aye ok, if youre sitting with the legislation in front of you and your boss is kicking about you're obviously not going to take that as proof. But at the same time, what you're basically doing asking them for ID is asking them if they're legal to drive the car. If I got asked I'd tell them I didn't have ID on me, just to see if they would then phone the police since I could be underage. Unlikely though isn't it?
