Hi guy's I'm a new member to the website, lots of smart looking Corsas on the site

I'm 18, from the Isle of Lewis in NW Scotland and here's my GSi.

I bought this L reg GSi locally from a young woman as she had bought a new car. I was going to get it fixed and stick an mot on it to use while I put my mk2 Astra off the road for some work, but within 3 days one of the tensioners on the timing belt gave up and the belt jumped and suspected mashed some valves.

Anyway it was a bit smoky under load so instead off just sticking a new head on it I'm going to get the whole engine rebuilt.

Here's a quick rundown of the mods:
2.0 16 valve "redtop"
Powerflow Stainless Exhaust
80mm FK Shocks and Springs
2.0 Calibra front brakes
16" Alessios

Here's a list of what it needed for an mot before the belt went:
Welding on the drivers chassis leg
Discs and pads
Powersteering pipe leaking
Shocks

I'm going to take the head off tommorow so will keep you all updated

Pics!

Here's the Astra

Here's a wee update from today.
Got the car into my mates unit as my own garage is being used at the moment,
Started on taking the head of today and I was shocked at how loose some of the Bolts and nuts where and how shoddy some of the wiring was.

The "before" photos

With the head off, here you can see oil inbetween cylinders 2 and 3. These cylinders also had oil and water in them, I suspect the headbolts weren't tightened up in the correct sequence when it had the headgasket replaced.

Here's a pic of the water that came outr of the radiator hose.... It speaks for itself

You can see the damage in this photo (all 16 valves are bent)

Here shows the worst of the piston damage, all the pistons had some form of damage from the valves.

It wasn't going to be pretty anyway, but all 16 valves bent and 4 knackered pistons? It couldn't have been much worse! The plan now is to take the block out and replace the pistons while giving the whole engine an overhaul, I need to get a new head also. While the engine is out I'll get the chance to tidy up the loom and engine bay.

It wasn't all bad though, got this little lot for the corsa.
EBC Green stuff pads, Astra GTE wheel and some new plates, still waiting on more stuff in the mail.

and heres a random photo of my mates 3.0 Astra ls van

The redtop was thrown in by a boy from Ullapool

I went to see that car when it was for sale near Inverness, wasn't too keen on it in the flesh.

Hopefully you do a good job and get it back to its former glory.
