I guess its a similar substance to a clay bar.

I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're going to do it, make sure the paintwork is clean before rubbing blu tack along the paintwork.
Otherwise it'll just pick up any dirt/grit and you'll scratch shit out the paint and make dull patches.

cost me 70p from morrisions .. did try this on bodywork fine dirt removerd, but did have to rub to remove tar spots

BluTac probably isn't much cheaper considering as you only need a tiny amount of tar remover to do the job. I find the Auto Glym stuff to be very effective. Saying that, you use clay to get rid things other than tar spots too.

this is like my mate telling me babywipes are the best thing for cleaning leather seats.

surely the dedicated leather furniture cleaning kit i bought is better

i think he means his idea is the cheapskate option, which people confuse with being better

Tardis

Spray it on just after washing, leave it 5 minutes and it cleans it up lovely. Wipe off with a dry clean microfibre.
