Budget is around £2500. Maybe as much as £3000 if its worth the extra pennies.

No more than insurance group 13 (i think).
Good on fuel. Diesels considdered.

Reliable, and semi-cheap spare parts. So BMW or Audi or Mercedes out the window as i'm lead to believe they can be pricey to maintain.

So... What d'ya suggest?

ETA: I'm 6ft 2 with size 15 feet, so nothing small and nothing girly.

Do you mean group 13 on the old scale that went up to 21 or what they use these days that goes up to group 50?

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Clio DCI 100, can be remapped up to 130+ bhp and still only £35 a year in tax and cheap insurance

Sorry, I should have mentioned no French cars.

Good point.

I'm basing it on the scale Autotrader are using at the moment.
For example, they have a 2002 SKODA Octavia 1.8T RS listed as a group 16D.

Really tempted to get a quote on that actually...

Can't base it on insurance group, that holds little relevance to actual quotes.

Really, get some quotes, a 1.2 corsa could be more expensive than a much higher group car, can never judge just by group or engine size.

Its normally a good guide though.

If i stick to cars around group 13-14 (and below if anything tickles my fanny) then it'll ease the search.

Yup. My feet are quite wide too, so i can only drive cars with decent space in the footwell.

Always struggled to drive my mates 106 GTi. Had to turn my foot side ways.

Heel n' toe no bother though

Average sized socks
They just don't come up my leg as far as they should

Dammit, i've started myself looking at Accord Type R's. Shame most of them in my price range are high milage.
