How are these done? can you just film normally then speed it up after? is that how its normally done?

record the video.
play the video via the dvd player / home tv but make it so youre watching it on fast forward mode.
record the tv using the video camera.
job done.

best way is to take a snap shot at a pre defined interval, we do time lapse recordings of building sites etc... and they are normally a snap shot every 30 mins, but for your project i would setup a tripod and mount the camera and take a picture every minute etc...

yeah see i wasnt sure if there was a different way of doing it, might try the snapshot method

only trouble with the picture method is as i will be taking the pics you wont see my hands doing anything, painting etc

setup a webcam? sure there'll be some software which would allow you to do it properly

yeah this is the best way, webcam xp does a free 1 camera license, you can probably get a driver so you can use your camera as a web cam, then schedule images ever 1 minute and will save them into a directory on your pc.
