It's true what Steve says, they tried to dispute mine because they filled it about 14 hours after I hit it but there was 9 or 10 of us that hit it.

99% of the time they will do this.

Check out my story for some advice on what to do. You need to prove negligence:

Finally got my FOI request back and it looks like the various potholes had been reported months and months previously so should have a good case.

Does anyone have a good first letter template to hand?

They've resurfaced both sides of the whole road now btw

John, what council covers that area?

GCC have a public liablilty form which they sent out to me. Other councils may have similar.

My dad got a response from the council saying the road was inspected within a month of the claim so they're rejecting it.

So my dad contacted the insurance company and he's using their legal team to pursue the matter free of charge.

If you have no luck with the council, i suggest you do the same.

Cheers pow, on it's way.

I'll piss about with letters etc but at the end of the day it was only a £50 tyre so I wouldn't bother going through insurance about it.

I point blank denied to give the CC any of my insurance details telling them it wasn't an insurance matter.

£251 for a new tyre, wheel and balancing

No fighting or anything other than 1 claims form that I sent in, didn't even need a letter, Glasgow council have a standard form.

Always try, it doesn't cost anything (bar postage, paper and ink) and you may find the council have been negligent in some form. Also helps I you research into the national guidelines and what other councils do.

Total result with this one! Get those court papers issued if they don't pay up straight away
