Probably leaking vacuum to your sensor.
Try replacing all the vacuum pipes.
Ps does in strugle up to 5% throttle?

garage said it isnt timing belt, thought it was that... maybe not lined up prop so i have to give it more gas 2 go... but that was fine, now they say it mite be my cat in exhaust blocked up???
but dont see how that will cause high fuel consumption....

i had exactly the same problem, the car seemed to want to stall more than pull away and was using lots more fuel, turns out the induction kit wasnt fitted properly, could be a blockage in there maybe?

I get bout 90 miles for a tenner from a modded 1.6 16v.
Take it to a garage(preferably a rolling road) to check ure emissions as you must be losing fuel somewhere!
