Smd just means surface mount.

If its for your astra you've got no chance of doing it if you don't know what smd means.

SMD is just an example of people on the internet using three letter acronyms again. As John says, they're referring to a surface mount LED.

SMDs are tiny leds, can be found on older mobile phones - used to light the keys up. These things really are tiny. They are nothing like normal LEDs. Theyare bright, but nothing like a HID.

Mind had the Smd conversion on my old Vxr. Much better lookin than the standard dim lights.

It's not an easy conversion either afaik.

The standard 'lights' are also SMD, just a different colour.

No they give off the same kind of style to hid's. they're crystal white when put in.

If you get a 'bulb' that has LED's which are that white yes.

If you put this on, which is also SMD, it won't look anything like a HID.

SMD is just the type of LED really, has nothing to do with brightness and absolutely nothing to do with HID's

these little squares on the right are SMD's
