Exactly what I was thinking.
GTO is just a name. 3 letters to represent a certain model.
This thing would run circles round a 288 GTO and of course a 250 GTO.

Edit: But to reiterate my point, you're surely aware of what gto stands for. It's meant to be a homolagation model. The 599 is not. And of fucking course it would run rings around them. But that's not the point. A Cosworth RS500 would be battered around a track by a mk1 Focus rs but what's more special? Times change. Those decals are available on any standard GTO. Its on option when specing the car.
