Just insured my car, printed the details saying its insured on 8/3/2011 at 140 ... but it doesn't have my name on it, can i tax my car or not?

Would still have to wait a couple days for the disk to be sent through the post. Although it would be taxed, you would still get a fine for not displaying.

oh and will take half a day or so still to do it online, but will take less time than waiting a few days for your documents to turn up.

The insurers can Fax/email the certificate to you. Take that into the post office and you will get tax.

Post offices around here wouldn't let me tax my car even with a emailed proof

Ive taxed my car with email certificate before in a post office. Girl looked about 16 though so prolly had no idea.
