Hmm i would call it far from great. Its medeoka in against other mobiles. There is many different things they could do..
3D cameras
1080p recording
Dual Flash
Increased Battery Life
Bigger Screen
There are lots of questions about NFC - its main use currently is for payments but there are many people thinking that Apple are trying to get in on the act. They already have one of the biggest credit card databases in the world so it would not be a big step for you to start paying through your iTunes account.
At work we have loads of new tech based around NFC but payment is still the killer app for it.

Twitter has gone mad about the WWDC being software only, it's hard to ignore in particularly knowing cloud services and the new mac osx is on the horizon, it's going to play a huge part of the conference

Could be getting too predictable for them so they are trying to shake it up a bit.
They could also have worked out how to manufacture the white one and want to milk it for all it's worth before they release an upgrade.
Won't find out until WWDC I suppose.

I was thinking this, if they've managed to sort out the white paint for the iPad 2 then surely they will use the same covering for the iPhone.

It would make sense if they left it later in the year. The WWDC invitations mention the event will be 'software focused' and Apple won't want to release the iPhone 5 a few months before AT&T roll out 4G.
