Rite need a new car as the BMW went a few weeks ago due to the increasing cost of fuel and been on the lookout for a replacement for a while; was looking for a Mondeo ST tdci but not seen any i like really; then was going to get a X-Type estate but my partner really didnt like the old man image of Jag so couldnt get that. Now been looking at V50 estate Diesel as they seem quite a nice size and spec for the money but i dont really know much about them. I think they look nice; here are a few i have been looking at; all are the 2.0D 136bhp sport models

Anyone with any experience or knowledge of them; or alternative ideas for circa £6K

but on topic; We used to run them as company cars and to be honest in the 3 years that we had 3 of them they were fine; never had any major issues; I love the floating dash!

one had a cracked sump but that was a manufacturing problem which was replaced under warranty

I really like the dashes on these. Some had a recall for washer tanks cracking/breaking which for some reason involved taking the cambelt off!

IIRC they are based on the Focus chassis, so should share some components

worked on a few of them and everything seems to be expensive on them when compared to the older models

Is age a concern? £6k would see you in an A4 Avant, not the latest ones the B6

Thanks for this i will have a look into the washer tanks; also maybe look at some standard servicing/common replacement parts to see how they compare.

Age isnto to much of an issue as long as its not to old; have been looking at the avant but not seen anything which takes my fancy yet

My dad had one, I loved it - was a great car.

Swapped it for an x-type which is ok but the Volvo was a bit more modern imo.
