for Windows 7 second hand? A guy at work bought a new laptop and is selling his copy of Windows 7 off his old laptop that died.
It's the full version, not the upgrade. It's £110 new on Amazon  He just said make him an offer but I don't know how much is reasonable.

£60 sounds too cheap for a new copy of Win 7.

Wouldnt the key still be in use on the old laptop though? The product key won't work on two machines or everybody would just give their keys to anybody. D:

yeah but the key has already been used and registered to his laptop. Meaning if microsoft see that its being used on 2 computers they will either ban the key completely or accuse you of fraud or theft or something I wouldnt buy a key that has already been used tbh. ;o

Have they changed it for Win7 then? All the previous Windows I've used the same serials on countless machines. Wouldn't surprise me if they've stepped up a bit tho. You used to be able to just ring up and get a key for free

I think on windows xp, you could use the keys on some of the earlier versions, but they stopped in when vista came out i think.
Edit: Did a bit of research and the top post said:
"There has never been a general "3 computers per license" rule for Windows. Consumer licenses are one computer to one license (at a time). If the license is non-OEM, it's transferable to a new system if it's removed from the old system.
So, to answer your question, Windows 7 operates in the same fashion: one system per consumer "

There was a 3 user pack with windows 7 not sure if it was 1 key or 3 keys.
I wouldn't pay anything though.
