That was my average, they caught me at 120mph on the speed gun, then tried to stop me and got me on camera over a certain distance,

The average was 139.4

I was fucked from the off tbh, I shouldnt really have been speeding anyway, took it on the chin.

What sort of distance though to get you at another 19mph??

Surely they could only do you at 120mph what it said on the gun??

I can't speak for other forces, but I know the traffic cars in Durham can get you average speed over any given distance when following. There's a device inside that you activate when the car you're following hits a certain point; e.g a bus stop, lampost etc. Press a button again when the traffic car passes that same point. Then after a given distance, stop the device when lead car passes another point, then when traffic car passes it and it works out the average speed. This equipment in a traffic car, including their speedo etc is calibrated on a regular basis to make it evidential in court.

I have heard of that before as i think my brother got fuked after they calculated the average over a certain distance.

But the distance was small.

Thats why im wondering what sort of distance they done Shep over, because to get a fully loaded Cavvy ecotec from 120mph to 139mph will take a good few miles.

Thy had the speed on the gun but didn't use it as vascar was higher, they followed me over a 20miles stretch.

I think the average was over a 1miles distance, they were probably waiting for me to hit that certain bit of road as it's straight for around a mile and a half.

Yups, them ones are defo not fakes!

The amount of people that cruise through them at 60+ is mental. Hearing a rumour that they don't work isn't enough for me to fly through them at speed
Im always doing that, never been done, always stay below 70 tho during them "average" bits lol

Unfortunatly I was caught doing 80 in a 70 last week and got the letter through yesterday. I was to busy lookin in my mirror to see where my wife was and didn't even notice the van on the fly-over. Just one of those things.

i got caught speeding 127 in a 70 but got slapped on the wrist and let off. i thought i was going to lose my license.

average speed cameras

speed limit + 10% leniency

in a 50 - thats 55mph

my car does 55mhp according to my GPRS when the speedo is showing at 59mph.

so i drive past the cams at 56/57mph and ive been doing this for years.
