Me and my partner recently bought our first house so thought I would put together a bit of a project thread which we can keep updating as and when.
Bit of a background to it, we decided to start looking mid January this year and had our heart set on one of the new town house style places. Having looked at a few, the rooms seemed very small and box like. We came across this house whilst browsing the web and it intrigued us more than anything. It is described as a link detached house. From the outside, it looks like a bungalow buts it very deceiving. As you enter the house, you walk through the porch and into the kitchen/dining room. On the same floor is the main bedroom, the bathroom and the living. There are then stairs down to a lower floor with 2 further bedrooms. We thought the layout was very "cool" and different to anything else we had looked at so decided to put an offer in.
Its a 3 bedroom detached property on a quiet 8 house cul de sac with front and back gardens, driveway and garage and was on the market for £125,000. Having done a bit of research, the house was previously valued at £160,000 but the previous owner had been partially disabled so had moved back down south to live with his family and part exchanged it for his new house. After a bit of negotiation, we managed to agree £118,000 and finally picked up the keys at the beginning of March.

We had a bit of money left over from the deposit so decided to do some bits to the house before we moved in - will let the pics do the talking from now on

Very cool - lovely kitchen and bathroom.
How come it's 2 different colours on the front? I assumed it was a semi at first...

THIRD BEDROOM (Work in progress)
All the rubble is the fitted wardrobe that was knocked out. The plan is to put french doors where the window is, paint all the walls white and have a nice darkish wood laminate floor. Sofa bed and TV waiting to go in to make this the second sitting room (games room)

Surely that tele is far too high up there? It looks a bit silly. Rest of it looks really nice though.

No, has always been an detached. All the houses on the cul de sac are the same, must just have been the design at the time

Not at all to be honest, the pictures are a bit deceiving but the living room is nearly 7 metres long so were sat quite a way from the TV
The shape and comfort of the sofa make it just the right height for the angle we slocuh on the sofa. Was a bit concerned at first having read a few comments on various forums but it isnt an issue

Looks really nice that mate, such an improvement, looks like a show home now!
Shame about the cable for the fireplace, can you not tuck it under the carpet?

A lot of the rooms are still a "work in progress" so still need fixtures and fittings (light shades, curtains, art, etc)
The cable for the fire will be hidden eventually

Yes, the kitchen has been finished very nicely
