is their new 'torque vectoring control' exactly the same as an LSD? Or am I missing something?

just an electronic version from what i can gather.

basically it imitates what an LSD does, probably not as good but much more cost effective.

I bet it just applies the brake on the wheel that is loosing traction. Quite a neat trick if you want to have LSD style performance on a tight budget.
