I didn't know that. I reckon that is because of the safety developments in cars. Easier to survive a 50mph crash with 101 air bags than falling to the ground from 35000 feet

Indeed, I don't mind planes but If something fucks up your chances of living are very low, but in a car "oh shite" and come to a stop usually.
