I have been looking for a low mile and standard GSi for a good while but they never come up for sale. I have been offered a Corsa Sport 1.4 with low miles. What is your opinion on these little cars engine wise?

Cheers,

Danny.

pretty good, i had one for 5yrs, bought it on 33,000miles, sold it with 140,000 iirc

as long as its in good condition they rev quite freely and match the car quite well

Thanks , does the X14XE have the plastic timing belt wheel tensioners or is that just GSi's?

They like to burn oil. EGR's can play up, aswell as headgasket failure.

Good engines, mine never missed a beat throughout all the abuse it got for about 20k.

The 1.6 is better for tuning and standard power of course, but if insurance is an issue the 1.4 is perfect.

1.4 is group 6 and 1.6 is group 11 I think.

Edit: A modified inlet manifold is the best step for increasing power.

If you are looking for a 1.6, just wait. You'll be disappointed if you ever drive one compared to the 1.4!
