Not everything will be watchable, it depends what you've got.

Steve has missed the point with this device. It's not meant to be bogged down with plugged in bits. It's all about lightweight apps to keep you productive on the move.

Not about power computing or watching full HD 3D BR films with dolby 19.7 surround sound.

Steve should buy a macbook air for his needs.

Lightweight apps to keep you occupied, not productive.

Why does it anger you though? Apple don't have to design the product to suit your exact needs, they do what they like and are seemingly successful in doing so. That's what makes your comments to retarded and troll like.

Air Video has been about since the first iPad.

Plug external HDD into PC/Laptop at home.
Watch any format video on your iPad anywhere.
Job done.

Also saves you actually having to carry around a separate ext HDD.

Just setup and tried Air Video out of curiousity, it's amazing, so much so that i'm in the process of Jailbreaking my iPad just for this.

I have over 100 films on my laptop, tried half a dozen, the app works flawlessly! Nearly all of them required 'live conversion' but played instantly as though no conversion was taking place. You can even skip to say half way though the film and it continues to play instantly.

The quality is amazing and the user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. Granted i've only tried it on wifi, ill give it a go on 3g at work tomorrow.

Although I got it free i'd be happy to pay for it.
