Dad had a £350 Gaggia one and that broke.

I can't see the one posted being great, although it's bar pressure so won't blow up in your face. Well you hope not anyway.

15 bar isn't bad, I'd guess it would be ok.

What's bar pressure got to do with blowing up?

Something with advertised bar pressure will hold the pressure. We have an espresso machine at work which just works on steam, similar to a moka pot. If you don't switch it off or release the steam through the cappucino spout, it goes mental with hot steam coming out of every hole it can find.

The pressure is the pressure the pump pumps the water through at.

15 bar is way to high to brew coffee..

tbh most if not all dosmestic coffee machines will break down within a year of buying them... you need to spend 1k+ to get anything decent

Nespresso machines are 19bar and have 3 year warranties.

Some club members have machines which are nearly 10 years old.

The trick is to use some kind of filtered water i.e. Brita to prolong life of the machine.

Coffee machines are great, but can't beat it out of a proper Moka pot. I'd rather buy a decent one of them than an espresso machine for £50.

You are talking complete rubbish Siberia.

A £200 Gaggia will make one of the best cups of coffee you can get and 15 bar is pretty standard.

pmsl... a 200 quid gaggia has a 9 bar vibration pump installed. i was a gaggia engineer for 5 years i've repaired 1000's of them.

when a company says they have 15 bar it is the max the pump can pump out and makes the machine sounds better(bigger is better isnt it?)...
9-10 bar is the standard to brew an espresso along with 7.5 grams of coffee and 30ml of hot water(80-85 degrees)

i never said they dont make good coffee.... they are very poorly built.. (ive been to the factory several times) hence they tend to break.

My gaggia classic isn't poorly built. The design has also stayed the same for over 20 years so I'd say its lasted pretty well tbh.
