Heya hope all is well 
Thinkin bout gettin a 1.4 cdti but wanna up the performance abit, iv got a focus tdci the now n done a fair bit to it so im no shy gettin in and about the engine
How responsive are these engines to tuning and mods??
thinking along the lines of remap, fmic, full exhaust system (unless removing the cat does nothin), closed cone filter(unless does nothin)
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Ive 'heard' there prone for blowing turbos?!
Super on fuel though and nippy little engines

Tax on a 1.3 is very cheap indeed, throw the reg number in the Vehicle Enquiry here - http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/
I would guess they'll remap. Although if you don't have the car yet I would probably start with a 1.7 if you want a fast one.

Its more for general cheapness really wanna cut back on all out goings the now but in future i will be modding to get the power lol, if you get me

The 1.3s are certainly cheap to run, fuel consumption is mega as well.

so do they respond well to modding?? would a fmic, full system/or cat back system make much difference or should it jus be a remap?

the 1.3 are a good engine its the items around that can let it down such as EGR valves and inlet manifolds clogging up and alternators always pack in,
my mates just sold a 1.3 cdti corsa c mapped with a decat and it made around 103 bhp if i remember correctly, was fast enough and extremely torquey for what it was, cheap tax, good handling etc
ive got a 1.7 corsa c cdti fitted with a dtuk tuning chip/box and its really torquey in any gear plus still brill on fuel

I dont think the 1.3's are all £30 tax. Depends on the date. Im sure the early ones are £120?
