The fact it'll cost more to get bits for it than it'll ever be worth.

Complete car is a cheaper way of doing it, you can sell what you don't need instead of needing to find things to buy.

Ford = Look for rust

Wanna track cart = buy a built one - save yourself some money dude (escorts are a bit heavy also!!)

Built lots of track cars in the past fords, Vauxhall & Nissan. Always cheaper to get one already built or at least with the biggyies done.....consider

suspension - £500/600 new (option - worn out used stuff)
cage - £700-£800 (option - unsafe used one)
brakes - £250-£lots

compare how much it will cost to get the escort up to the same spec as the corsa, or even to a semi track state, then consider the price difference

you can always sell the decent bits you put on it once your finished.

thats how i look at stuff, says you spend £200 on suspension, after a few years it'll be worth nothing, spend £750 and after a few years it'll probably still be worth £500.

my escort had rusted on the rear chassis rails, rear wheel arches seem to rust on alot i've seen.

apart from that, they are better than a corsa

From what i've been told, theres no rust on it at all (yet to go and look myself), it's got engine, loom, box, ecu. it's never going to see the road so doesnt need to be mot standard does it? all that i really need to do is put decent suspension on and then upgrade as i go along, he's only wanting £150 for it as it stands but i think i might be able to knock him down to £100

Well i went to view it tonight, not a spot of rust on the whole car! needs a bumper, headlights, and windscreen, already completely stripped interior, oh and theres a slight air leak on the inlet but hardly a problem, very tempted tbh
