Pistonheads is free.
Really depends on what kind of car you're selling.
Average family car - Auto trader.
Something a little special - PH
Ebay covers both I suppose.

"We're trialling a cheaper (£9.99) premium ad with no free alternative in some makes and models only at present. However the qualification for a free premium ad for forum account holders (which currently applies to all account holders on 1st July 2008, when we introduced a premium ad) will continue to apply. "

Pistonheads = £10 for 30 days
Auto Trader = £35 for 2 weeks Online only
eBay = £14.99 for a classified ad. Or £8 for an auction + £20 FVF if under £2000. (+8 for a reserve)
People tend to check them all in my experience anyway.
