ive got a 1995 polo, 1lt


basicly its very low, very slow with 165 stretched tyres onto 7j wheels

had my tracking done a month or so ago and we set it to 0

however the inside of my tyre has been demolished

just wondering if anyone knows weather i have to set it at 1 or 2 mil in just to compensate for the lowness and the stretch??

any advice would be appreciated, thanks

i think you should fit normal wheels.

it will be down to camber rather then toe

yer but the front isnt off camber mate

if its very low surely it will be? unless you have camber bolts or adjustable top mounts or something

Tow and camber might be within tolerance but caster would also exhibit that degree of wear if the wheel rolls on to the inside edge during cornering.

I would guess you have limited options to adjust this. It would also mean that your steering is less likely to self-centre if you do, so it's not really recommended anyway.

Either way thats going to give a pretty numb drive.

As steve said if its very low is most likely camber. Castor gives camber on turns.

toe out \ / will wear the inside, toe in / \ the outside

well its dragging its way through the inside and up to the centre so it cant be camber can it cosv wouldnt that onle be a little bit of the tyre worn if it was camber?

Why cant that be camber

To me that suggests you are running too much camber as ONLY the inside half (for example) of the tyre in getting worm. Negative camber.

Either way 0 toe WILL NOT cause tyres to go bald on the inside.

Did you lower it after getting the geometry done? If so - you'll need it done again. Lowering will give more -ve camber and wild toe settings.

How long have the tyres lasted after you got the alignment done? If its a reasonable time it will just be camber, if it got buggered quite quickly they fucked up the alignment.

Basically, something is wrong and you can't adjust it anyway.

It's not toe, and nothing else can be changed. Live with it.

and AK i ment that the inside half of the tyre is worn not just the very inside edge

it has been 2 months since the alignment was done and i lowered it all before i got the alignment done as i know lowering it more will mess with it again

I will put money on it being the camber!as when you lower it silly amounts you end up with silly amounts of negative camber.have you got a print out or know what the camber was set at?

Camber will be whatever the suspension decides its not adjustable or do you mean just what it was in the end?

Sorry yeah I mean the camber settings in the end.I'm pretty sure on that model you have a bit of movement in the strut to mess about with the camber (but I could be wrong ) and if it's really low you may not be able to get it back within factory tolerances.

Yup, 2 bolts onto hub, shock has oval holes (well my coilovers did!)
