The copper ones, can they just be sanded down/crap removed off them and just painted with Hammerite or is it best to just buy brand new ones?

They are cheap as hell anyway. Since its to do with the brakes I would personally replace the pipe.

Really?

I just wondered as that option is easier than removing/replacing them

It's only surface corrosion I don't have any fluid leaks etc.?

Replacing them isn't that difficult but you need the proper flaring tool to terminate the pipes.

Is this to get it through an MOT?

Nah it came up as an advisory in the last MOT so I'd like to get them looking good again for the next test.

Clean them up with a scourer pad, get some copper grease with a paint brush and give them a coating, thats what i do and dont usually get bother at m.o.t time apart from one occasion.

Advisory was likely for slight corrosion was it? A clean up will let you see how bad they are, and may be able to be greased to stop them getting worse and mask it too

Actually that's a point - are they steel or copper?

I'm guessing they would be steel? Does anyone else that owns a Ford of that age (Steve I'm looking at you) know if they would be steel or copper?

Thanks.

I think I'll just bite the bullet and get them replaced along with some nice braided Goodridge hoses as well - probably work out cheaper labour wise to get it all done at the same time.
