I'm highly doubtful someone would use their real name etc to do that, this poor guy will now get abuse for nothing.

Potentially Paul, however from what I've read so far is that the upload to pastebin has been linked to Perm in Russia. Now either this guy has an enemy that really hates him, he's the unfortunate chap that has had his identity spoofed randomly or he's the guy and is a little doylesque.
The other issue, is that this Yuri Vasilyev has so far denied the twitter account is his, but is yet to give his "real" twitter account details.
It'll come to light soon enough no worries whether it is him or he's been spoofed, maybe he'll increase the security on some of his accounts etc

what have we learnt from jimmy bennet though?
If you're going to 'steal someone's identity' it's usually someone you know, e.g. local.
For example, if I wanted to do something like this to a celebrity in America, I could make the twitter account 'OllieCrowe' and send threats from it.
People could see my ip was from a similar area to the 'real oliver james crowe' and then conclude that this guy must be the villian:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=788235295
- Thing is, most of the information about his identity, is then regurgitated from the initial wrong accusation.
For example - they find this guy with the same name in same area:
http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=10d65021fe8df993d13ed5809f74e817&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fboard%2Fviewthread.php%3Ftid%3D611624%26page%3D2&v=1&libid=1312369398552&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fyuri.vasilyev&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.corsasport.co.uk%2Fboard%2Fforumdisplay.php%3Ffid%3D12&title=Corsa%20Sport%20-%20for%20Vauxhall%2C%20Opel%20and%20Holden%20Corsa%20and%20Barina&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fyuri.vasilyev&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13123695440691
- then from there, find out his g/fs facebook, icq, where he works, deviant account etc... Of course they all tie back in to the original facebook account / identity - but that doesn't mean it's the right guy or that the real guy would even use his real name.

Of course Paul
However, say you had done just that, the real Ollie Crowe would, in my opinion, try and shout and scream and proove innocence, lock accounts down as privately as possible, contact the police directly and probably contact the press etc to get your name straightened out before people jumped on the bandwagon ?

Perhaps, although this guy is russian and may not fully understand what the english statements are saying. (Notice his status updates in russian) it could well be saying 'WTF, some english people think I did this, this is rediculous)...
Could you imagine if you were named and shamed in the following news story:
-----------------
Now you know you can read your name in there and 'corsasport' and you may get lucky and get some of the translation if your russian is not completely rusty, but you may not really understand whats going on.

Very true however he is typing english in his responses.
However if I suddenly had loads of people commenting on facebook, they'd be removed, profile locked down and i'd contact the police...doesn't seem like he's taking it seriously though.
And does that story say i'm being given £100,000 by the russian government for being awesome ?
