i have no obvious loss of power and the car feels just as good as ever, i think if it was coming through as much as i first thought surely i would loose power?

i think i will get a compression test done tomorrow and see what they are then try these new plugs. i guess if the plugs have worn and the gap has increased they might not be sparking as effectivley causing the fuel not to burn as it should. thats my thinking anyway.. could be well off the mark.

with the cat removed there is less back pressure in the system.

so oil could have been escaping due to that.

now you have driven it again. it may have settled down

keep and eye on oil level. see if it it looses any more.

if not.. alls good.

could well be, i think after looking at the spark plugs they seem a bit worn, so im going to pop new ones in and see if that burns the fuel more efficiantly.

i have actually been getting crap mpg when around town, 120 miles maybe to 30L.

What plugs are you using? Compression test would be the place to start and hopefully not identify a big engine apart job!

if i have to strip the engine its not so much of a biggie, could do without it mind.

im using iridium ngk plugs, the ones with a needle point on them.

Thats quite low.Around about or slightly less than 110psi.

Did you have all the plugs out when doing the test and not just the 1 you were testing at the time??

Low comp pistons could explain the reason its low (but then again i don't know what psi/bar it would put out).

As a whole, the compression between all 4 seems fine.

IIRC, my standard z22se was about 190-200psi across all 4 cylinders so take what you can from that.
