Hi guys a mate of mine has a 2001 Volvo V70 Estate and the car shows a transmission fault, we had it looked at and they said it was a software issue on the gearbox and it needs updating at main dealer to remove the fault(the car drives spot on)

Has anyone heard of this?

What are V70's like? im considering buying it thats all

What engine? I'm guessing it's an Auto? That's quite odd. But I'm guessing it's an OBD I/II like mine is (S70) so get a fault code reader and plug it in? Connector will be inside the arm rest!

If it's anything like that then just do as Eck says and clear the fault yourself. Will be cheaper buying the gear than paying the dealer in most cases

I have an EVC fault on a Volvo Penta engine at the moment and We've been told nothing's wrong and that main dealers can reset it - We're a main dealer, We can't reset it - Stupid Volvo!

Its the Marine D3 engine which is based on the Automotive D5 engine

Try plugging in a fault reader and see if it can get rid of it. Also, that won't be too shy Love the shock factor of my T5
