Im currently selling a ipad on gumtree. I received this message today, im 99% sure its a scam But a part of me thinks its ok, surely ok through paypal since it is secure? Or is it likely to get cancelled, or be a dodgy credit card?
This is the message.
Thanks for getting back to me on this....Am really interested in your
''merchandise'' and am buying it for one of my company agent in
'abroad' as birthday gift, but i will not be able to come and pick it
up and pay cash because am out of town presently and it will take me
some months to be back in town, what will happen is that i will be
paying £60 for the shipping via royal mail and i will be paying in a
secure way which is PayPal curse PayPal is secure and safe and fast to
send money online so kindly get back to me with your PayPal email
account so that i can make the payment asap....And also i will offer
you £590 for the merchandise.
The fact he is calling it merchandise is really putting me off

The big script is copy/paste, that's why there's no reference to the item you're selling. Bad use of English and grammar. The list goes on.

Unfortunately i am a "proper" Scot, unlike yourself. So don't have a brain as superior as yours. And still struggle to read or write. We don't go to school in Fife. Just plow our fields and shag our sisters.

What the fucking hell are you going on about? when did I suggest I was superior to you
I'm telling you how you can spot these scam emails so you know for the future, the script across all of them is generally the same. If you was selling a car it would be the same script with a few minor changes, if you want to be a cock then fair enough. Enjoy your monies.
