Would rather pay the £1.34 then live in any of the places in the top 10.
But ours is mostly tax isnt it ?
Along with the 37% increase in insurance polices, only way to get a half decent deal in the uk is to be mega rich or to buy some sort of diesel and pay £20 a year on road tax.

Cairo is a shit hole, tbf.

They have their own petrol but drive shit heaps because they crash into each other all the time. They call is a "kiss". My tour guide told me that when I visited the periods

Egypt isnt as bad as you think. Some of Cairo is a mess due to the slums etc. But if you stay out of them areas its alright.

Their driving standards are poor though, the only people that need licenses are bus and taxi drivers.

but considering we pay a damn site more on fuel than most other countries, compare the condition of most of our roads, where alloys are ruined because of deep pot holes to the likes of silky roads like spain. We pay more money for fuel which takes us on roads that ruin our car, great!

I was thinking this the otherday. I was watching a video of a car or something on youtube. Not sure where it was but the roads were perfect.

Roads are maintained with council tax.

I believe road tax is just a tax and doesn't go 100% back in to anything to do with our cars, I think it just goes in to a pot with all the other taxes raised then spent accordingly.

so really people in more polluting vehicles, paying more road tax and its not really being spent with ways to improve the causes, like traffic, journey time and the awful public transport etc.

Im probably wrong, normally am.

but what my point is, every sort of tax in this country is massive, not just tax on fuel and car tax, so why are the roads still horendous? Where does the money go? Housing for immigrants? Benefits?

National debt, armed forces, schools, NHS, welfare.... the list goes on. In your life you will have benefited lots from the tax paid by others.

Ever been to school? to the doctors? a hospital? that's where it goes, your personal comfort while driving a car is the last thing the government cares about, who really cares if the roads aren't that smooth.

Spain has silky smooth roads because its always hot so frost/ temperature cycling doesn't crack and fuck up their roads...nothing to do with how its maintained.
