Seems to be quite popular now with the economic climate, the practice of going to a wedding or other overnight hotel based event and filling your car boot with beer before you get there thus avoiding the lucrative hotel bar prices.

Anyone else into this practice?

We were at a wedding last week and a few were doing it, mainly when we were all hanging about outside the hotel before the meal, after that I'm pretty sure everyone just used the bars. We got a lift over with some friends so didn't really have the option.

Another wedding earlier this year we had a room and on the advice of others took some with us because of the prices, only drank after the meal while they were getting room ready for night do though.

To be fair when you get a pint and a vodka/coke and its over £8 you can see why, me and the mrs have ploughed through well over £100 at two weddings this year.

We did it once at a wedding because it was about £5 per drink, Offy literally next door was just asking for it.

Was all going well, had the beers in the hotel room & kept bringing them doen one or two at a time. Just poured them under the table & hid the cans under there too, nicely hidden by the long tablecloths

Went a bit pearshaped when they moved all the tables for the dancing part of the night & it looked like a Blue Peter stompathon

I probably would have in my younger years but now money isn't as tight I just pay what it costs. If anything I go too far with it. Always getting people drinks and wasting money. I'm a generous drunk!

Oh and a tip I heard recently was a bottle of vodka in one of them gift bags. Leave it on your table and nobody will question it.

Wrong attitude to have. You're older, which means you're above suspicion

Nah mate I don't really care these days. If I'm at a do I spend whatever. I'm having a good time and don't let money rule the night. If money is tight I wouldn't even go to the do in the first place.

Snap, I'll start off on basic lager but by the end of the night I'm a real ten bob millionaire, sambuca, tequila and jägerbombs everywhere
