I'd say minimum for gaming is a 22" saying that I couldn't imagine playing on anything smaller than my 50

Depends how far your sitting from it tbh.
32 should be more than enough.

Depends how far away from the tv you are and how much room you have. 22inches is suppose to be the optimum size gameplay.

If he's playing Xbox it doesn't need to be full HD anyway

It depends how far away from the tv you are, if you are sitting close like at a desk 22" would be fine, average sized room I'd say 32"+.
Personally I have a 32" Panasonic but only about 4ft away and that works fine for me.
Also, on anything less tha 32" you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between 1080/720 and Xbox games aren't in 1080p anyway.

You have also got to think about transporting it, its alright saying get a 40 or 50, but when you have to move everything out come summer, then everything back in in september, you don't want to make an extra trip because of a TV

I have a 22" in my game room but then I sit about 3ft away from the screen, it's still too small for my liking (eg looking at someone on BF3 who is miles away I have to lean forward to see if it is actually a person or just a bush or something).
I want to get a 42" really, or put the 42 in the lounge and steal the 32 thats in there now...
