About to go view a 2003 Corsa C SXI (1.2) at the weekend and would like to know what to look for to ensure it doesn't have any problems.

What's common to go on a Corsa C 1.2?
What should I be checking?
When does the timing belt of whatever need doing?
How much would you value one at 65k miles?

Is it facelift or pre??

Timing chains rattle like fuck, usually change them about 100k.

Head gasket can be common, check for creamyness on oil cap.

pre facelift... bit annoying because i wanted to get a debadged grill but they seem to be expensive/uncommon.

What about clutch, how long do they tend to last on corsa c's? How would i tell if its on its way out?

Gear linkage is the main one, clutches are hydraulic, I know that much.

I got 140k out of a clutch on my last corsa c, gear linkage is the most common!

I'd sell my current corsa c for the right money, although it's a z20let with 292bhp 340lb/ft and a spec list as long as your arm, so it's not cheap! It's on pistonheads and corsa c at the min

Gear linkage im not too worried about if they are the same as the ones on the corsa B... they can be repaired fairly easily.

Linkage is different to B, I think the only way to fix it is all new ones.

Clutches depend on the owner, If its had somebody who has been careful it could last 200k.

Just do the normal checks when buying a car.

Main things are gear linkages, steering arms/stering rack movement, anti roll bar links, water leaks in front footwells

Other than that just general stuff, there is no interval for the timing chain to be replaced, they just rattle badly when run out of oil etc, so just listen out for noises. Headgaskets arent common, Ive worked at Vauxhall for 4 years now and have only seen about 1 cylinder head removed on a chain driven engine. There may be some slugde on the underside of the filler cap, this will more than likely be from condensation if the car doesnt do many miles.
