Sold my big power Ibiza, and also my Astra Turbo
I now drive a standard CTR as an A-B car
So tempted to buy a toy car so I can eventually bring it to some track days etc
don't want to spend any more than 1k tbh
I was thinking
106GTI/VTS
Old Civic of some kind
Want something nippyish without high running costs.
any suggestions?

Clio 172/182
205 GTi
106 GTi
Saxo VTR/VTS
any of the above would be ok... i'd recommend a 1.9 205 GTi. You can get a pre-preped one pretty cheap - saves you time/money/hassle.
Dont go all out for power... spend the left over cash on tyres/susp/brakes

I'm liking that, But for now I couldn't justify having 3k sitting on the drive.

Offer him less, worst he can say is no you'll have lots of fun in that, and a few choice mods will make it a weapon on track.

i would def say a saxo vts, i had one for a while that was standard bar an exhaust and filter, stripped out it would keep up with barnshaws st220. i know that it was obviously a heavy car but still no bad feat

How about this? A bit rough and ready, but would be fine for tracking?

Loads of choice even for that money, devote as much money as you can to tyres and brakes and the rest to doing events, and bring it to our next one -

Or Adams on the same weekend -

The corsa's aren't the best handling in standard form let alone with an extra 50-100kg upfront?
172 is tempting, Id want to spend on handling to be honest. I used to have an XR2i and I found removing weight and sorting handling/braking out was the best route to take on a budget.
I loved my GTI and my VTS but had problems with both, Cant seem to find many civics.
I'm on the WR forum already Ian I just checked so i'll take a good look.
see what I need - insurance MOT requirements etc
