Im also struggling to find a decent lighting set up.

The tank is 25 gallons 32" long with 24" 18w bulbs but i need to be getting over 50w's.

Cant find any cheap alternative other than changing tank and size.

Yeah i have found a T5 starter kit for £40.

Got to be worth a try.

Dont know what to try first.

Co2 kit?
Plant food?
Higher wattage lights?

Problem i have is my plants last 2 weeks to a month and start going brown at the end and dye.

You checked all your chemical levels? I would try the bulbs or the co2 kit as there around the same price no? As for the feed your going to need an empty tank so probably not the best option unless you plan on emptying ect

Yeah all nitrates/nitrites/ammonia is spot on.

Might increase the bulb wattage with some t5 lights and go from there.
