What do you think life would be like if we got rid of money everywhere and instead bartered products/services? Do you reckon we (humans) could ever regress back to such a thing?

I remember going to the Warehouse Cafe in Birmingham once (it's a vegetarian cafe/restaurant) they had on the noticeboard downstairs a flyer for some organisation where you can offer your service in exchange for whatever service you need - so for example I could offer a few hours of my time doing IT maintenance work for a garage in exchange for them doing a service on my car, that kind of thing.

Wasnt there a pub in Norfolk doing this last year or something? You could take in fresh veg in exchange for a beer for example.

I think we are too used to money as a "currency" it's small and easy to carry so obviously it practical.
Sadly you can't stop the greed of humans and our lust for material things so i think a barter system would be equal to that of now where the rich become richer and the poor poorer.

There was a Grand Designs recently in Cornwall. The bloke was a builder and had gone through life doing loads of favours for people, said thats how they all worked generally.
Near enough built most of his house on favours

When all currencies loose their value this is where we are going to end up. Gold will be a worthless paperweight and we will need to grow veg and herd sheep.

this question was on 'ask rhod gilbert' a couple weeks back.

That film that's coming out has a good idea, use time as currency. Those who don't work simply die.
