hi all  got a 99 1400 sport with a fucked engine and the plans are to replace it with a tuned 1600 but i am unsure what gearbox to use, ive got the box thats in the corsa and have whatever box is on my 99 astra 1600. will either of these be any good or does anyone know what sort of box i'd be best using?? cheers mark  .

Two questions are whether it will fit and whether the ratios are appropriate.
There are a few different boxes even for the same type of engine so if you have them both to hand, get the part numbers so you can fully identify what they each are.

Ratio's in the 1400 box won't be ideal but it will fit and work. It will accelerate quickly but sit at higher RPM at say 70mph.

thought that, found a helpful site in german that says 1600 sports had either a f15cr or a f17cr box fitted so think im gonna try and get a f17 cr, thought id be able to use the one off my astra but remembered the astra is hydraulic clutch and the corsa is cable so wont be doing that lol.
