I don't, I just happen to use that one for it and it's running ubuntu because I'm trying to increase my Linux knowledge.
Backtrack was used for getting all the key's originally.

I spent around £1700 on my last system a few years back but that included two decent 22" monitors.
Im now looking to upgrade during the xmas sales.
You can buy a an overclocked I5 running at 4.6ghz for sub £400 (which is core for core faster than the I7s which are more expensive).
Add that along with a Revo X3 SSD which as 1500mb Read / 1200mb write I've got myself a very fast system.
I currently have a reasonable GFX card and so im on the fence about updating that.
In addition, OCZ are on the brink of releasing their next Revo drive, which delivers 1900mb read and 1700 write.
For around the ~£1000 mark, it'll be a superb upgrade.

Maybe £ per core, but its not a faster chip.
My current rig has set me back around 2k. I got a low end sony laptop (because its green) for £500ish, and Just got the missus a macbook air for £980.

going to be picking up an iMac soon to replace it, as no need for a laptop due to having iPad

Possibly not THE latest I7, but the run of the mill I5s stomp all over the previous I7 editions, include the extremes. Just search for Benchmarks
In some instances, its beating CPUs which are costing 3-4 times it's price.

I just bit the bullet and bought an iMac: Main reason for purchase was to learn XCode as I fancy a career change but i I installed Windows 7 x64 and It blows my i7 PC out of the water..
